Teach Me to sled pull!

I have a couple of questions regarding sled pulling. I have H&S Mini Max with egr and dpf deleted with s&b intake.

What gear do you pull in? 1? 2?

Does tow haul mode even matter? I wouldn't think so.

Obviously use 4 low.

Is it safe to pull on hot - 250?

Should I build boost before pulling? Or just ease into it?

Thanks for any help.

Let others that do it all the time chime in but I will tell you this. Get the sled moving as fast as you can and it will pay off at the end. If it seems to be spinning a bit much maybe turn back and forth a tab bit to gain some traction back.

There have been a few guys on the forums to report that they "tried" sled pulling for the first time..... None of them knew anything about it, and I think they all tore their tranny's up learning and attempting lol. Im sure the stock tranny could handle multiple pulls if you did it right, but plan on building your tranny if you are gonna get into it. Sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't have the balls to tear my daily driver up trying lol. Hopefully the guys who do it will chime in.

I have seen many sled pulls in my day and have talk to many people who did and do it. The ones who do it good will always tell you to get it moving as fast as possible from the beginning. I'm sure you could get a good couple of pulls out of it. But yes if your going to continue to pull you need to build that tranny up for sure.

I have pulled a few times and it does pretty good, stays right up there right behind the duramaxes with built tranny's. I pull in 3rd 4 lo and have used the KEM 275 and 345 tune and havent had a problem with the tranny yet. Broke a drives shaft, but that was due to the lift.

I also boost to about 15 psi and let out easy, make sure you tie your front end down to prevent wheel hop as well. I also used tow haul but was probably a mental thing haha
