Question Newby advice needed please

Hey guys,

I'm a newb here and just got my first diesel. I've been a V-10 guy for about the last 7 years and finally saw the light. I bought an 08 F-250 Crew with 83K on it. It's bone stock and I'm already amazed at the difference from the gasser.

I've done a LOT of looking around for recommendations on performance upgrades and my head is totally overloaded. With this being my first diesel, I dont even know what all the acronyms mean. I have a LOT of learning to do.

I'm looking for performance but not a racer or heavy equipment hauler. Can somebody please make some recommendations as far as what programmer to get as well as additional components like exhaust, DPF (whatever that friggin means) and so on? This is NOT a DD and is going to be used primarily for hauling toys. Heaviest load I pull would be about 7K.

I know there's more info on this site than what I need already but DAM, almost too much!

Thanks - Gordon

For a tuner only get H&S or Spartan

H&S is shift on the fly which is good if you tow often, but if you are just using it for daily driving most of the time then Spartan is great ( it is not shift on the fly) It actually reprograms your truck Computer.

1. H&S Mini Maxx
2. Exhaust (4" or 5")
3. Air Intake (S&B or AFE)

Those are the top 3 mods to do and you can add on from there as you feel the need.

Check our website for more info and package pricing. Give us a holler if we can help with anything.

If you are going to spend the money, put 5" on it. Why replace 4" with 4".

Thanks guys. Getting the card out now. Can't wait. Looks like the order list will be:

H&S Mini Maxx
AFE Intake
DPF Delete
5" exhaust

Only remaining question is should I put an anti wrap bar on it. This truck has a 4" lift and the back has blocks rather than new springs. I can be an idiot from time to time and would hate to twist the springs up.

Thanks - Gordon
