Head Studs?
Hello guys i got a 08 6.4 ext. cab sb thats a stick truck sitting on 37s and i have been running the spartan 210 mode bc thats all the factory clutch wont hold the power of a higher tune. I also have the dpf and cat delete with an afe intake. ive hit 45 lbs of boost just pulling out to pass a car fairly easly less than 3/4 throttle. So i'm kind of worried about head gasket popping bc i pull a lil toy hauler enclosed trailer with tools and clothes and stuff in it b/c i work on the road for the pipeline. I just dont want to be stranded on the road with my trailer hooked up to my truck, so should i look into putting studs into my truck cuz every place around me has shot me a price of around 3500-3800.
Also another ? how does the higher tunes 250, 275, and 310 boost compaired to the 210 tune for the spartan? |

From what I've been reading, seen highs in the low mid 50's!! I desperately wanna do head studs as well...

I believe the higher tunes hit a higher max boost. I've seen 52psi on the 275 tune getting on it pretty good. I certainly don't hit that psi often, in fact I deffinitely prefer the 275 as a DD compared to the 210. As of now my gaskets are strong, never puked. I plan on doing a bunch of mods this summer, studs being one. Local shop wants $1200 to pull cab and install studs, that price does not include studs and gaskets.

I don't think cylinder pressure on the 210 tune is high enough to blow head gaskets. The 250 tune is pretty reliable too, but I have heard of a few guys blowing head gaskets with that tune. Once you get to the 275+ tunes, it's hit and miss.

Oh alright thanks I may just order my clutch and see how it goes. Cuz cheapest quote ive had is 3k with me getting studs myself.

What he said. The 210 tune should not create any issues for you, nor should the 250. If you abuse them though, anything is possible. Use common sense and you will be fine.

I drive a stick too. What clutch are you going with?

Well I'm one of those guys that blew HG's with the 250, never used any higher tune, I also pull my 15,000# 5th wheel but only use the 210 for that, so it is possible to blow HG's on the 250, it cost me right around $5,000 for the replacement of HG's plus some other goodies, I will tell you it is not fun to have to limp home when you puke coolant anytime you go over 36psi on boost especially here in Washington going up and over mountains.
