I have just had my egr delete installed on my truck , currently have H&S xrt pro on no power setting with dpf/cat delete. I have read that with egr deletes boost pressure can cause some intercooler(I think) hose to blow off. Is this really the case and with the settings mentioned earlier that I am currently running do I have to worry about this problem ? I dont beat on the truck just daily driver with occassional tow 10000# camper. Dont want to be 500 mile from home and have this happen. Thanks for all your help.

Doing the EGR delete really doesent effect boost PSI to the point where all of a sudden your going to be blowing IC pipes. As long as you keep the boots clean and free of oil and clamps tight you'll be ok. Worst comes to worst, if you do for some odd reason blow a pipe, just stop and put it back on... pretty quick fix. I've never expirenced any issues with mine since deleting EGR/DPF systems 15k miles ago running Mild & Wild settings on the HD300 tunes.

Don't drive it like you stole if and you will be fine. EGR is used as a waste gate of over pressure Depending on which kit you are using you might have a waste gate in the system, If not watch your boost numbers when accelerating or pulling a hill, worst case you might have to back out of it some to keep all in check.
Easy on the throttle and easy off will make the beast live much longer. Watch your EGTs and boost. Yes the truck will pull a lot of weight and has a bunch of HP and Torque under the right foot, use it carefully and the truck will live a long time. Last edited by MD05; 01-27-2012 at 03:36 AM. |
