I won't to do the dpf delet for better mpg i do a lot of hwy driving the power is not a big thing. I guest wont good shifting and something that not hard on my truck for every day driving.but the power would be nice
I have had both the spartan with their tunes, spartan with kem 310 and now my blackmaxx. Overall the blackmaxx is definately the better of the two. Not just because of the unit itself but the company aswell. The spartan though is no doubt the better one if you want to monitor 10+ things at once and such but with my blackmaxx im fine with just seeing the usual stuff like boost, trans/egine temp, EGTS, EBP and such.
The best part about the blackmaxx is their updates! They come out with something new and guess what? Its FREE! yes 100% free. They recently came out with a bigger HP tune and a bunch of different transmission tuning options that are 100% free and easy to change by the user. If you end up with the spartan you are stuck spending more and more money with every update that comes out with a bigger tune. Did I mention you can also have it reclaibrated for your tire size which the spartan doesnt do? You can if you want spend 100$ to change it on the spartan but the H&S does it free right on the tuner itself.
IMO blackmaxx is where its at.
P.S. if your not looking to spend the 1200 for the blackmaxx or spartan the SCT is a great cheap option for half the price.
Our updates don't include larger tunes. You either have a level 1 license or a level 3 license. You can upgrade to a level 3 from a level 1 for $300. That gets the end user a 575 horsepower daily drive tune and two all out performance tunes. All of our tuning files updates are 100% free.
Sorry I wasn't aware that the 310,300, 350 were always available from spartan from the beginning. It was my understanding that with a few updates came newer and more powerful tunes and people paid dearly for them. You have to pay more money for the bigger HP tunes that are out now and that will come out in the future.
I just purchased the H&S mini max with the DPF delete and can tell you it makes a huge difference in power. Too soon to attest to MPG, can't keep my foot off of the pedal yet. If you choose to go with H&S I would say go with the mini instead of the Black Maxx unless you just want a bigger screen. Both have almost the same capabilities and that is based on info from the H&S website. There is a lot of information on this site and others about the differences and I can tell you most of the people are either a Spartan fan or and H&S fan with very few people on the fence. After all of my research I chose to go with H&S. I have already updated it to the newest 300 tune and it was very easy.
The trans in the 6.4 learns your driving habits and adjust even with the tune on them. When you first put a tune on it it will likely shift hard but if you do the relearn process it gets better and then continues to get better as you drive it. You will likely experience the rough shifting each time you update the tunes. H&S also has several transmission settings you can download depending on your driving needs.
Honestly just do some research on the org. There are TONS of threads exactly like this asking the same question. Read those. Also, check out "ultimate dpf delete showdown". You can find just about any info you want to find if you just spend some time reading.
You may want to check into the edge also. I have an edge race evolution with cs monitor and i cant gripe. I put down 470/864 on the dyno with the tuner and exhaust. I have talked to a few guys that had spartans with the 250 & 275 tunes and they said they wished theyd have known what power the edge did. It claims a 200 hp upgrade, but in a race i could beat everyone that had the 275 horse tune. As far as fuel mileage i jumped up approx. 7-10 mpg with my foot steadily on the floor. IMO spartan is over rated when it comes to just putting a basic tune on and seeing a nig difference.
Um you must have talked to people running the 150 hp tune cause there are guys making 550 rwhp plus and 1100 rwtq plus with the higher spartan tunes. And I highly doubt you gain 7-10 mpg keeping the pedal to the floor. Seems like you have no idea what you're talking about.:tard:
550hp?? That's weak!
Mikes made 568 with Spartan, exhaust, intake only... Booo yaaa :rockwoot:
If you have the $ and want the absolute best for the truck and most power, Spartan.
If you don't have $ and wanna get rid of the DPF and get decent-great power, SCT.
If you want switch on the fly tuning and pretty great power, H&S.
That's how it is. Few ppl will argue with this. If they do, they most likely don't know much about diesels...
Yeah, I hit 570/1115 with the 310 on 37s. You're blake's little bro right? I don't remember you hitting that high on they dyno, but that's fine. I will say I was impressed with how clean the tune was and it sounded good but it couldn't have kept up with the guys running the Spartan. And there's no way you got that kind of mpg increase. That tune was clean but not enough to get 7-10 more with it floored.
Yeah that's my little brother...You're exactly right Mike, my brother's could never hang with yours or Colton's or any of the big spartan tunes lol But I'll have his back and say that I've watched it run 275 Spartan trucks and win...
Hey that guy started it. Plus them coming in here with this BS. Someone needs to tell them they are both full of crap. All they are a stupid trolls and have no clue what they are talking about.
"I put down 470/864" and you're calling out spartan tuned trucks? Uh oh
"As far as fuel mileage i jumped up approx. 7-10 mpg with my foot steadily on the floor" Um... Where do i sign up for this? :hehe:
