stock 6.4 hard shifting at 40 mph

When you say bad do you mean hard?

I know mine shifts kinda hard but it is normal

idk if its hard or what but you just feel it more than any of the other shifts.

I have 171k on my truck and when i get on it it shifts harder then when i drive it normal. I have road in a few 6.4 and they all have done that.

it shifts perfect when i get on it. its only when i am accelerating slow that it does it the slower it is the worse it does it???

Mine lurches a bit when the torque converter locks right around 35mph on partial throttle. Is that what you're referring to?

When it locks, the truck is a whole different beast...

ill see if it does it around 35 but it just feels weird and you can feel it buck or search. thinking about taking it in

If you are questioning it i would say the best thing to do is take it to a well known tranny guy and have him drive it.
