banks race tunes

i just saw an add by banks advertising race tunes. anyone know anything about them

Yeah, they haven't released them yet on the Ford. There are DPF friendly tunes as well as DPF off tunes which require all the signatures and a new pipe. Tuner plugs into OBD port to upload tunes and then sits in your desk drawer or whatever the rest of the time. You can use the iQ to monitor all functionality and if you have the Six-Gun, its highly recommended that you run it on Lvl1 (stock setting) so that you aren't piggy backing tunes. Tuner allows you to turn off EGR, Regen, etc..

They are also selling 5in exhaust systems if people are interested.

I saw a 2-page spread of a Banks ad behind the front cover of next month's DieselPower Magazine at my local grocery store, but I was in a rush to leave so I didn't get to read the whole thing.

I saw some blurb about a Banks DPF delete tune. Is that what you're referring?

That sort of piqued my interest... nothing's on their website.. any details?

Yes that's were I heard about it.. What I don't get is why they had to make a new programer.. Why wouldn't they just make a 6gun selectable one for DPF off

Because with the SixGun, they can get CARB approval and sell 50 state wide. Anyone with a SixGun can legally goto their inspection station and not worry about passing when they get the smog request. By releasing it as a separate tuner, they can put their toes in both pools, one for the Smog Legal guys who just want more power and better mileage while still retaining their DPF and one for those who want to remove the emissions.

sorry i shouldnt have used "6gun" i was just thinking a selectable tuner..something to work on there IQ. from the add it looks like the race files are only available on a hand held programmer similar to super chips

Gotcha. And your correct about the separate tuner. But you can still use the iQ to monitor everything if you already have the Six-Gun or the universal version of the iQ.

I called them to ask some questions about the 6-gun and asked about this.

Looks like these race tunes will be out next month, and it won't be integrated with the IQ as Shaun states.

[off topic] they were saying the 6-gun smokes 2% less than stock at Level 6 at WOT. I was reading it smoked 2% more than stock at any level 3 or above, however they said that applies only to the Chevy LMM. Are you guys experiencing fewer regens than stock while running level6?

I don't run on lvl6 long enough to notice. I usually run on lvl5 or 2 depending on what I'm doing. In any case, regens are in the high 400's on mine.
