I was in the same situation. I didnt know which one to go with..I keep going back and forth from Spartan, SCT, and H&S. I think I would go with the mini max or black max but I can not find anyone wanting to let there tuner go for 750 or less.

I went with H&S XRT pro. Did the DPF delete and tuned the truck. Love it. XRT has no gauges but it is priced right. H&S also has just released 6 custom tunes for the trans so we can get the type shifting each of its customers is comfortable with. Great customer service too.

The way you can look at it is you can spend under $800 on a tuner, but you will still need to buy guages which are around $300-350 most places. Or you can get the tuner and guages all in one. Either way you look at it, its the same price.

honestly just save a lil longer and spend it on a mini max....

or you can do the XRT pro now and just keep it on the lower tunes until you can afford to buy a monitor but i do not recommend this

For $900 you can get the Mini Max. You'll love it

Ya gauges are something I would never go without again. I had a 2003 6.0 chipped and no gauges for a long time when I finally put gauges on I figured out my EGTs were way to high and who knows what damage I did to that truck thats one of the primary reasons I parted with that truck. I just pulled the trigger on an SCT Livewire for 600.00 I hope it turns out to be what I want. I plan on having Innovative diesel load some more extreme tunes down the road. I have heard good things about the Mini maxx as well my buddy has the black maxx and wouldn't change a thing he loves it.

Driving a tuned diesel with out guages is not smart in my opinion. You dont realize how hot you can get your EGT's until you have guages and realize the damage you may have done. I wont even drive a stock diesel with out guages. Even a stock truck's EGT's will start to get hot pulling alot of the grades here in Colorado.
