Unhappy EGR Cycling w/ Mini Maxx

I read on the H&S forum that the Mini Maxx will complete one test cycle of the EGR system for the 2010-2011 trucks to keep it from sticking. This post was about 3 months old, and it said that the system for the 2007.5 thru 2009 trucks don't cycle the system at all (yet). Is this true or do all Mini Maxxes cycle it now? I have to smog the truck yearly and I don't want to have to worry about the valve sticking every time I go back to stock for the one day I smog the truck.

I thought the 6.4 cycles upon startup...which would explain some of the weird sounds upon startup.

I would prefer the valve to cycle at idle, but I'll accept just on startup.

That's what I thought too, the post on H&S said it does cycle it once upon start up, but only for 2010 and 2011 trucks. They said they haven't figured out how to cycle the egr on the 2007.5 to 2009 truck yet... at least that's what the post said. Any input?

I called H&S and they said on the 6.4 it is shut off and will not cycle. That was about 4 months ago. I got a KEM custom that will cycle at idle. Well worth the 50.00

I talked to H&S on the phone today, and the guy on the phone told me that he wasnt sure if it did, or it didnt. He said that he talked to another employee and he wasnt sure either. I asked how i can find out and he told me that i should get under my truck and listen for it to cycle. Maybe I will try to call back on a different day hoping that i can get better results.

You can hear a different sound from the exhaust when it cycles. If it cycles only on start up, you may need someone to start the truck so you can hear it.

I was pretty sure it cycled on startup. However I have been hearing otherwise. Anyone contacted anyone at Rudy's to see thier opinion? I'll shoot them a call or email.

I can't find it, but I emailed Casey at H&S last year and if I remember correctly he said the XRT, Mini, and Black maxx all cycled the EGR on start up. I asked about the XRT specifically.

If I find the email I will let you know.
