I want to delete my EGR but I really don't have any idea what the hell I'm doing!! I hear that this will increase the life of my 6.4. I already have the dpf/cat delete and a SCT tuner and figured that it only makes sense to do this mod next. How hard is this to do? I found this kit on Ebay. Is it worth the money or is there a better route? 6.4L EGR Cooler Delete Kit Powerstroke - eBay (item 250781412355 end time Mar-10-11 14:03:20 PST)
i had 4000 miles on my 6,4 when i did but I had a shop do it they took the cab off cant tell you what a difference it makes in performance I also had removed the other junk like you have already done
i went with the dirty diesel kit. It comes with a new intake elbow as the stock one with the butterfly valve is very restrictive. It also keeps the oil cleaner. It is time consuming to install as the coolers are kinda hard to get to.
No, I have'nt bought any EGR delete kit yet. I'm still in the learning phase of these fangdangled EGR doohickeys!!:dunno: I'm still contemplating if I want to take this kinda job on or not?? I'm decent with a wrench but by no means am I a mechanic. This is my first diesel truck and I'm still trying to figure it out. So far, I have changed out the fuel filters, changed oil/filter and installed the DPF/cat delete pipe and tuner. That's the extent of my diesel mechanic skills so far!:woot:
