FTE Resonator Installed

Okay, so I finally got my FTE resonator (30" pipe) installed. I will start out by saying that I love it. It really changed the exhaust not a lot at both part throttle and WOT. I would say that the exhaust has a lot more of a whistle noise at part throttle. I am guessing it's due to the corkscrew design of the resonator. At WOT, the grunt is still there....it's just dampened a lot. I had a lot of drone beforehand with the straight pipe, and it is virtually gone. Unlike the Donaldson muffler I tried, I kept the good WOT sound and at the same time lost the drone. With the Donaldson it was loss of drone and noise all together. All in all I am very happy with it and it will be staying on my truck.

The only downside I see to it is that it did not get rid of the hairdryer sound at idle. It dampened the exhaust note to the point that it is not as pronounced, but the exhaust still has the hairdryer sound to it. I truly don't know if there is a way to completely get rid of it on the stock turbo's. Like I said before, I am extremely happy with it and would recommend it to anyone looking to get rid of that part throttle rush of air sound.

The heat from the exhaust made this video a little weird, but the noise is really all that matters.

I read your info first this time. I'm glad you did this before I bought that resonator cause I would have been pissed if I did buy it and didn't do anything to the idle.

Like I said, it did dampen the exhaust note at idle....so it's not near as bad as before. The hiardryer sound is still there though. The hiardryer sound didn't bother me before. Dustin (dzchey21) and myself agreed on my testing the resonator, so I took it on and I am happy enough with it to keep it. My biggest concern was drone and the insane rush of air at part throttle driving around town. It does what I hoped it would do.

A lot of guys have had good luck out of the corkscrew design resonators, so I tried it. I wasn't against trying a muffler, I have just heard a lot of great things about the resonator.

I'm having a muffler installed on my truck this monday. I'll post videos when I do.
