Exhaust / Tuner question
So if you replace your exhaust from the down pipe back, you will need to get the pyro kit? I am looking at getting the H&S Black Maxx, along with a 4 or 5 in stainless exhaust. Just want to make sure I order everything I need.
Thanks for any help 2008 6.4 |

Not unless you run the pyrometer into the exhaust, but thats not a good way to run it anyway. It should be routed to your exhaust manifold, pre-turbo, for the most accurate temps. You should be fine with the H&S, Pyro, and your exhaust choice.

I talked to H&S, they said if you replace your exhaust it removes the egt sensor that the factory puts in, therefore you will have to drill and tap into your exhaust manafold. I was under the impression that this is where ford had origionally put the factory pyro. Why would they put it on the exhaust pipe its self? I guess I will just have to pay the extra for the pyro kit for the black maxx.

No need for pyro. It reads the egts from the obdII ports itself once black maxx is installed.

The 6.4L reads the factory pre-turbo pyro so there is no need to drill/tap anything.
