Question about installing stacks

I just boughty a set of Grand Rock 5" stack kit with 7" stacks and just wondering if when you cut the Y pipe into the box do you have to cut a little of that cross member under the box?? Just visually looking at it, it looks like it might be in the way. Just looking for some insight from others installs.
Thanks, Justin

What did you use to cut through it?

I just used a sawzall with a thin blade. You can make it turn a corner. A big hole saw would be much better though.

Is it really a big deal cutting through it? Won't harm anything? I am doing it regardless but just wondering

come to think of it. I think I had to cut all the way through it. it will weaken the front of the bed, but I have a tool box up there anyways so it did not matter to me.
