S&B air intake installation (Check Engine)
Gents,
I installed my S&B air intake last night and it seemd to go very well. I drove about 20 miles before the check engine light. During the 20 miles driving period the truck was shut off 3 times for me having to run errands. THe 3rd time I turned the truck on the check engine light came on. NOTE: I did unhook the battery cable before I installed the S&B air intake. HOwever, I will try this evening to unhook them again and see if anything gets reset. Please help if you have any insight. |

Check your filter minder, it may have been sucked in all the way.

did you plug the sensors back in on the intake once you moved everything to the new tube? Thats the only thing that I can think of. Ive not heard of anyone throwing a check engine light with the S&B.

My CEL goes on and off sporadically with the S&B on there. Its off more than its on so I let it slide.

Ive had mine on for over a year and never once seen the CEL...

Cold air intakes will throw a code on occasion. Something about the amount of air it lets through vs. the stock unit. The only way to ensure it doesn't happen is to tune the truck.

Is the truck tuned ? If so you may need to go back retune and answer "YES" you have aftermarket intake. If your tuner even ask this - the sct9625OR does

Anyways, when that ratio of air in/air out goes out of spec, you get the error code. Since the S&B flows better than a stock intake, you have already thrown that ratio off a little bit. Then as the DPF fills up, the ratio finally gets out of the acceptable range, and you get the light. All of the posts that I could find seemed to be related to the AFE intakes and not the S&B's, but my S&B does it. At least, that is how I understand it... |

Thanks for everyone input. Looks like I will be okay as time passes.
The truck is not tuned but the tunes should be here next week. I put it on before because I wanted to see what the air intake does by itself. Looks like this problem will be fixed when I put the tuner on. Thanks again for the help. God Bless |
