Can I turn off the EGR with my SCT without EGR plates?

I just had to tow my truck to the mechanic because the EGR stuck and it went into limp mode...The accelerator did not work at all!

I figured I would just turn off the EGR with the SCT tuner, but I was not sure if this was wise with it all still intact.

Any suggestions?

Turn it off. You don't need blocker plates to do this. All you turning it off is going to do is ensure your egr valves don't cycle anymore.

Random question, do you happen to remember what the high/low temps were outside the day that this happened to you?

Same thing has happened to me a few times, and the last time it happened when the egr was turned on with the DPF on by coincidence. I took it to dealer and they replaced the EGR valve. Each time it's happened, the high/low for the day is spread out by 30 degrees and it changes quick then my EGR sticks.

The first time it happened, I and 2 other members on another board had same issue one the same day with the SCT on with the EGR on. SCT told us to tune it off, and never came up with a better fix.

I am not exactly sure. It was not last friday, but the one before. I live right outside Corpus Christi. I plan to just turn it off. I just gutted the cat and it seems to have helped the truck a lot.

Just be careful leaving it off without letting it cycle every couple of weeks. It can stick if you leave it off like that, and you won't be able to run the truck with the EGR back on which would be an issue if you need to take your truck to the dealer.

It asks you if you've disabled the EGR and at that point to disable just answer "yes".
