Pulling tranny tips

I've pulled transmissions on cars before but not with the transfer case attached. Can the transfer case be removed first. If so is it just a short stub shaft in the transmission. I have 2-4 ton floor jacks is all. Will the pan and a block of wood support the weight? Reason I'm doing this is to upgrade to an elite or suncoast. Transmission is fine with about 7000 miles on it. Warranty is gone with all the engine upgrades. Hate to give up my shinny new core for an old dull one. But the turn around time to send this one out and back. Who knows?
