H & S Mini Maxx
Going to tune my 2008 F250. I went to the local guy by the house. Tell him I want Mini Maxx, delete pipe and S&B intake.
He says that the mini maxx is just generic tunes. Is this right or is blowing smoke up my you know what. I can not find info on this. Should I stick with the brand S's or what. I was about to pull the trigger on this. I really like switching on-the-fly. I am not really worried aboout out running vettes. I just want fuel milage and to get rid of regen. |

If H&S's are generic then everyones is generic.
I run a mini and I love it, need to update the files and redo the tranny learning though. |

i dont think the guy knows what he is talking about.top two tuners for 6.4 imo are h&s and spartan....and depending on who you talk to will change the order i put them in

Unless someone puts your truck on a dyno and creates custom maps aren't all tuners "generic"?
Sounds like a sales pitch to me without knowing the full context. |

I'm having alittle trouble with my trans shifting with the H&S it seems to run through the gears if I'm running easy. I cant find where I set the lock up either it's locking at 55 and it seems like its never going to lock up?

you have to download a new trans tune if you want to change the lock up.go to their website and follow the download direstions

h &s hot tune is AWESOME, best thing about h&s is that you can shift on the fly, the tunes are great and free updates via their website! if you order a minimaxx order it through KEM and you get h&s plus 3 KEM tunes!! and KEM is very well known on these boards, cant go wrong

H&S, Spartan, SCT, etc. are not a custom dyno tunes catered specifically to your engine/truck (IE they work with all 6.4 engines). With that said, its generic for each brand. So in a way, that guy is correct. To get a custom dyno tune, you would have to put the truck on a dyno, and allow the professional tuner to modify perimeters with some kind of tuning software through a laptop
The brands i mentioned above are far from junk, in fact quite the opposite. Last edited by AW794; 01-02-2011 at 06:36 PM. |

I was thinking the same about being generic. Local dealer wanted to push
other brand because it will monitor more parameters. I am not trying to build a racer. You could say the DP tuner for m 7.3 is genric in this case. But is way better than my old superchips tuner. I read alot and think the mini maxx is what I am going with. |
