Spartan Tune question
At what point (which tune) should a person look into upgrading their TCM and Transmission? I have the standard tunes up to 250 currently, but I am sure I am not the only one that wants MORE! I just dont want to spend money on a transmission etc...
Any advice on how high of a tune I could run without having to spend crazy money on transmissions etc? Thanks, Jake |

My advice would be to get a TCM if your gonna be consistently running higher tunes then the 250. My stock tranny has gone through loads of abuse and has never had a problem and i think there TCM is the reason. If I still had the ford job1 tcm my tranny would have been cooked a long time ago.

If you ever plan on going with an aftermarket transmission down the road, save your money. I recommend the TCM to guys that have Job 1 factory TCM's that want to keep their stock tranny alive because they don't want to spend the money down the road to do a Sun Coast.

Thanks Jeff. So how long will a stock transmission hold up under the 300HP or 310 Tune, or is that the $1,000,000 question?

Depends how you drive it. some guys break there trannys on the first 1/4 run..and other guys like me have good luck and they last 40,000+ miles. I have 41,000 miles on my trans 35,000 tuned and she is still running strong.. although i get the feeling with my new ATS converter that shes probably only got another 15,000 miles in her.

and like jeff said above if your ever gonna do a Suncoast in the near future dont bother with the TCM because using the TCM and a Suncoast together is a bad idea!
