Tuning
This is a specific question related to a specific shop, I already have a Livewire, and am not planning on getting another tuner. I have decided to go with River City Diesel for tuning, from some posts I read in the past, and from talking to the techs over there. Now The question I have is some what of a dilema; the two tunes I'm looking at are:
450rwhp tune for daily driving/towing for $175 or 525rwhp tune for high hp street, basically more power but same general purpose for $200 Now the tech says that the trucks trans is rated for 500HP stock, he said that running the 525 tune in the long run may or may not cause trans issues, he said that if I do plan on upgrading the trans down the road than its fine, but if I'm just doing daily work driving, some towing and looking for a boost in economy than the 450tune should be fine. I'm just wondering if I'll be throwing money away getting the 450 when the 525 is only $25 more, because I know down the rd that I'll find the 450 is not enough power. Man I hate decisions like this. Any help is appreciated, comments from rcd tuned guys is a bonus. James. |

I would go with the 450 simply because it will give your truck a good solid increase in power and will be safer for towing and daily driving then the 525..you can always buy more tunes when your tired of the 450 tune. There 525 tune is about the equivalent to the spartan 275 which I feel is a good daily drive tune if used responsibly but I do not use it for towing..Ive done it before and it works great but I dont feel real safe doing it. No matter how you cut it its just more fatigue on the engine no matter how your using your right foot. the 450 will probably be a great tow tune!

Well I dont tow that much anymore, its not on a day to day basis, its usually once every 3-4 months or sometimes longer, and is rarely over 4000lbs. And I really don't get into it that much, I mean I'd definitely get into it a bit when I first get it, but not looking to smoke my tires at every light, dang tires are $350 a piece I cant be buying tires every 5-6 months.
