Exhaust sound changes at idle????

Not sure what the deal is but the truck has always done this at idle. It will just sound normal and then it will sound like a hairdryer or something kicks on for about 15-20 seconds and then it will quit. Is this normal? What is it?

yuppp normal, my dmax does it, its 3 in straight piped, if you go to a 5" like i have on my powerstroke you hear it a little less , but yeah perfectly normal!

Thanks for the replies. Thought it was probably EGR cycling just wasn't sure.
