Spartan, Spartan, Spartan........
Quick rundown of my scenario...........
Purchased a DashDaq Series II from a lady whose husband had purchased it a couple years ago. He NEVER tuned the truck with it, and the license is STILL AVAILABLE. I call Spartan to see why the unit only has 3 tunes on it, and I was told I'd get a callback after she spoke it over with the "boss". I got a callback, only to be told that I would have to pay $325 to receive the new tunes. Now, it was my assumption, that you would only have to pay the $325 if the tuner was USED on another vehicle, which this one wasn't. I was told I'd have to pay this fee because the tunes were built for the other truck's VIN, and not mine. I understand the whole VIN thing, but if the license is still available, doesn't that mean it's never been used?? I'm lost, confused, whatever you wanna call it. And a tad bit frustrated. |

if it was unused seems like the old license would still be available unless when the guy bought it they asked for his vin and locked it to the tuner? not sure if thats wat they sell oe or not

The tunes show his actual VIN in there. But I still don't understand paying $325 for "refresh" something that's never been used. Maybe it's just me.

That is the 'spartan' way...

Spartan will milk every last penny they can till they don't have any customers. I sent a reply email to mick last week and haven't heard back yet on an issue and I am sure I will not.
Its all good though there is a lot of other people who tune our trucks and do a very good job of it. That is the way I am going. My spartan time is over that is for sure. |

The tunes on the tuner are for another truck, and it sounds like to me that he bought it before we offered the strategy flash tunes....which means that the tunes will only work for the original buyers truck. If you expect us to send you tunes for free, then I am sorry because that isn't how it works. You purchased a used tuner that became VIN specific as soon as the original buyer got his tunes.

Of course you have to chime in with your two cents.

Well, excuse me for expecting a company to update THEIR product free of charge. I've dealt in mobile electronics for 15+ years, and have sold MANY USB updateable products. And every single time, the companies have offered the updates to their customer for free. And I'm not talking $100 products. I'm talking products that cost well over $2,000 retail.
Rough business from a company I had contacted a week ago about becoming a dealer. I'll stick to selling my Edge products to my customers and having ZERO issues. Regardless of where I bought it from, its never been USED. But in your companies terms it has been because your tunes/files/technology is outdated. So your customers get stuck with the cost. Great business practice. |

This is the whole reason I went with H&S. But right now im interested in trying out some other options as well, like RCD. $325 to change the VIN in a tune is BS.

Ya man. Considering their so called "license" has never been used in it. Still available but because THEIR tuner is outdated, it's now the consumers problem.
