2008 6,4 vs 2003 7.3 with bullydog

A friend has a 7,3 with a 120hp bullydog and we drag raced on pavement and the two trucks are even to 300 feet or so and then the 6,4 pulls away.
The first run was the stock 6,4 against the level one on the 7,3 and there was no comparison. The 6,4 was way faster. Just for your info.

I think it's due to the twin turbos on the 6.4L. I test drove a loaded 6.4L F-250 and it was a lot faster feeling in the last 1/2 of each gear than my 2000 7.3L with the 6 pos in the 140hp setting. It could be that mine is a 6spd and I drove an auto 6.4L....I dunno. I DO know that from the test reports that Diesel Power did...my truck is faster in the 1/4 than a stock 6.4L; and that makes me a happy boy.

that doesn't surprise me. Unlike the 7.3 or the 6.0,the 6.4 has smooth power from the moment you mash the pedal.

Just replaced my '06 F-350 CC 4X4 SRW with an '08 loaded up Lariat dually with a 6.4 in it, still stock. It's not bad, but feels as big as it is. The '06 6.0 liter with a Superchip on performance setting was considerably quicker, faster and 20 - 25% better on fuel than the '08. Word is the 6.4's do get better over time, but then I've been running these Powerstrokes since they came out, and they ALL have done that. Seems they don't loosen up much until around the 60000 km (35K miles) mark. All the same, none was more fun than the 2000 dually I had, chipped, piped, big downcomer, 3.73 gears. Ran close to 750 ft/lbs and my kid had a bird because he couldn't catch the thing with his fancy Honda Prelude SRV with the V-Tec hi output engine!

The Superchips 1808 tune really woke up my 6.4. I can't wait until some of the more agressive tuners come out for the 6.4.

When the tuners get the 6.4 all figured out, it will be scarey fast! Its got similar but superior injectors than the duramax...and look at the power just a chip can add to it.....
