Is it Necessary to tune transmission with a tuner install?

Just like the title says...I am using the bully dog GT tuner on my 6.4, however I did not use their transmission tuning files...I kept it stock.

Tranny temps seems to be OK.

I usually use the performance setting +75HP, The Max power this tuner "Claims" is +140HP
Are these numbers safe for the stock tranny tuning? I know its nothing compared to the Spartan tunes.

I've been told by one of the very reputable dealers on here that he would never run over 80hp tune on a truck without the trans being tuned. I would say run it, if you've got the trans tuning available then it's extra insurance. I doubt bullydog would make the shifts hard like some of the race tuners do.

I wouldnt run more than 50 hp over stock without trans tuning

Can someone explain the trans tune to me? Never heard of it with the Dodges so I want to make sure I do it right with the new Ford.

Transmission tuning is done through the TCM to control the transmission. It controls line pressure, converter lock-up, shift pattern, etc.

So do all the tuners (Spartan, H&S, SCT) come with these transmission tunes? Is there a standard tune that comes with the tuner or can you adjust them to your needs?
