6.4 dpf delete with an edge, Help sounds bad
I have a 2008 F350 6.4 with the Edge and a dpf delete. It sounds Bad, so Bad i won't drive it. I have read posts and watch you tube clips and mine sounds like nothing like what i have heard. My question is could it be the edge chip because the trucks on you tube with Spartan's sound good, like a V8, not a Dash 8. I am ready to put the dpf back in just so i can drive it but the power is so good with it gone how can I go back?

As I pull away from a stop it ssssshhhhh sound i think it was called a hair dryer in a post earlier. When I get about 3/4 throttle the hair dryer noise goes away and it sounds really good. Hair dryer, jet I could post a clip tomorrow if it would help. sounds like the turbo but not a spooling noise just an ear piercing swish. Thanks for your quick reply.

thats normal, its just the turbo. Most people love that sound. If you dont want it just throw an aftermarket muffler on there, that should get rid of it.

lol. Ya bud. It's just the turbos.
The 6.4s have 2 turbos and the amount of air they move is insane. So it's normal. I know exactly what you're talking about. It's always been there but the DPF acts like a muffler and since you took it out, you're going to hear it.. loudly.

I didn't realize Edge had a tune to delete the DPF??? Could that have anything to do with it? Just curious if it could be hurting anything on your truck.

Its going to sound like that if you just did the dpf/doc delete.. You nearly have to go to a 5" exhaust to get rid of the hair dryer sound.. IMHO i would get rid of the edge and get something with more power, more reliable, and more reputable on these newer trucks such as SCT w/ custom tunes, H&S, or Spartan

I have a 5" exhaust and still have that sound size of the pipes dont matter much a muffler will help i have grown to like the straight pipe sound!
