Need tire help please
i'm due for tires and want the stock size off. i'm replacing my rims with some aftermarket 17" rims i found and i need tires to go with it.
what is the tallest and widest all-terrain tire i can run without running spacers in the back since its a dually. i just want to fill the fender well up a little and give it a better stance. oh and i don't tow anything heavy so the tires can be close together, just don't want them touching. |

I would say you could get away with a 35" tall tire, but the width is going to be the big factor. It will need to be a pretty narrow tire I would think.....like an 11.X" wide tire at most.

i was wanting to run a 305 but not sure what width i could go with. i don't want it to look like i'm running a bunch of pizza cutters under it lol

255/70r17 is a size bfg makes for duallys. Its like a 33.5 tall by 10.5 wide. These need no spacer. Toyo makes a 285/75r17 and i know requires a spacer to get correct space for hauling. Not 100% sure how close they r without spacer. They may even be touching but not sure. Never seen them on a dually but they measure out to a 34 tall by 11.5 wide. Hope that helps.

that actually helps alot Clintd thanks, so with the 255/70 its still going to give it a pretty wide stance right

that looks sharp, so is the 80 number the width or the height? and are the 255/70's going to be a taller tire than yours or a wider tire. sorry i'm kinda dumb when it comes to tire sizes

255 is width. 80 stands for 80% of the width is the side wall. So a 255/70 is shorter then a 255/80.

ok that makes sense now, guess i'll be pretty limited on what's out there in the 255/80 catagory

Yes u are. Dont make to many tires designed to fit duallys when u want a taller tire. They usually get wider as they get taller. And from what i have seen bfg is the only one with that size on a 17. And fyi a 255/80r17 will be taller then a 255/80r16 cause of different wheel size. Im just throwing that out there as an example. Not even sure they make that size on a 16 in wheel
