How hot is "too hot" for Transmission Fluid Temps?

I was towing my little 6x12 trailer on sunday afternoon and it went up over 200 a little bit- which is where I have my alarm set to. Part of my 10 mile trip was a section that was uphill, with some traffic lights, and no more than 35mph. After that hill, I put the trailer in the storage facility and drove home. It was fine after that. Could it be that I just wasn't moving enough air? My trailer is barely 4000 lbs gross wt.

I saw in another post that a guy's TFT was in the 230's and someone suggested it was probably ruined.

I'm taking a 3000 mile trip next week (no trailer) and just want to make sure the truck is going to be nice to me. I never drive it very far.

Also, is there anything else I should either thoroughly check before my trip or monitor closely as I travel? This is sure going to beat taking my wife's Rav4 like we usually do!!!

If you were under 220 then you are fine. When you get in that 220-230 range is when you need to let out of it or give the truck a rest. Anything much over that for a sustained period can start cooking the fluid.
