newbie looking for a tuner

Looking for advise on deciding between a spartan or black max tuner. My last truck was an 06 duramax with ppe tuner and it was pretty fast(very user freindly) But this time my money goes to ford. Picking the truck up next week and would like to get some parts lined up for it. I am thinking Tuner, cai, and dpf delete. I have never delt with dpf or so it will be new to me. Having a ford truck will be new to me. I know this is a broad quistion and it has prob been beat to death but I would like to get a little educated on tuners before I buy one. THANKS

The Spartan tuner is going to be your best choice. You get 13 tunes out of the box with it, a high resolution touch screen monitor that is GPS capable, and it is the most proven tuner over the last 2 and a half years for the 6.4. Out of the box you get 4 DPF on tunes and 9 DPF delete tunes that include a tow performance tune and the 250 horsepower race tune. Taking the DPF off is a breeze. It can be done in your driveway/garage with a helping hand and basic hand tools. No cutting is required. I recommend getting a fully bolt on downpipe back exhaust, but that is totally up to you. Hope this helps!

Can you get the spartan without the digital readout. I like a more classic look with the gauges on the pillar

I am new to Ford as well. Got my Spartan from Rudy's Diesel Performance. It is amazing what the Spartan tuner will do for these trucks. Go with Spartan and a DPF/DOC delete from the downpipe back and a CAI. Talk to Aaron at Rudy's. He'll get you hooked up with everything you need and answer any questions you may have. Great costumer service!

The monitor is the tuner.

You don't have to run the DashDaq as a monitor if you don't want to. But it has different display settings, so you can see gauges instead of digital readout. You could always add pillar gauges if you like.
