Blowoff Valve and chip??
I will hopefully be trading for a 2010 6.4 with a handshaker this week. What I was wondering is if a blowoff valve is useful at all or is just purely for the "whoosh" sound when you let off the throttle. Also what chip is the best for the 6.4 with the DPF on?

Spartan tuning! and I'm sure others will chime in on the BOV, it's not just for the woosh, it is to lower drive pressures, and I know if you are putting in a good BOV, on these engines you should go ahead and do full egr delete and studs too

Well I don't want to void my warranty because I'm buying new so I want to wait at least a little while before I tear into the engine.

Then you are going to have to be careful with what you do

Well I'm going to leave the DPF on for right now so I won't be doing anything too crazy. I'm just trying to get an idea of what I might need when I decide to build it.

A wastegate will lower drive pressures, a BOV just let's boost out of the tubes when you let off the throttle to prevent damage to the turbos.

At what point would a BOV be necessary? I plan on keeping this truck a long time so should I look into this fairly early?

A blowoff valve will hurt you more than it will help you, I would think, being you have a stick shift and all. You will loose all boost between shifts. Best thing to get is CAI, Cat/DPF Delete, and Custom tuning. If you go over a 150hp tune, you better look into a clutch. My 2 cents.....

I know custom tuning is the way to go but I am NOT doing a DPF delete and I thought all the custom tuning was with the DPF gone
