Spartan mileage

I purchased a Spartan Phalanx, DPF/DOC delete pipe, and S&B airbox recently. I have to admit the power it provides is truly awesome. But that was not what I purchased it for. I wanted to gain mileage. I have heard many stories about how a tuner, pipe, and CAI helped the mileage on the 6.4 greatly, so I went for it. Now I have a 2009 CC 4x4 dually with 4.10 gears. Before I bought the tuner, I was showing 11.3 on the lie-o-meter, and was getting about 12 hand calc'ed. Now the lie-o-meter is showing 18.8, which I thought was great! But alas, I have only gained about 1 to 1.5 mpg in reality.

Have others seen this situation also? By the way, I am running the 250 tune, which I heard was the best for mileage. Any help out there? would like to get the 4-6mpg gain that I've heard others talk about.

I think it all depends on how fast you drive (anything under 1700-1800 rpms is optimal) also, do you drive mostly on the interstate or in town/highway? The stop and go traffic will really affect the mileage. Ultimately, I think your 4.10 rear end (Dually) will not see the gains some claim.

With 4.10 gears, your going to have to keep it around 65 mph on the highway to get decent fuel mileage. Around town there is no hope tuned or stock with those high gears. You might can manage 13 or 14 if you baby it all the time. You really need 3.73 or 3.55 gears to get good fuel mileage.

You can't expect much out of an almost 9,000 lb dually with 4.10's...no matter what you try.

guess you also can't believe the claims by some that you can get 17 out of a F450 either. LOL
