Well, I don't know too many people that run the Edge tuner for their 6.4 with a DPF delete, so I can't say much about it. Most go with Spartan, SCT, or H&S.
Spartan gives you the best monitor on the market. It is a color touchscreen with high resolution. The monitor is also GPS capable and can data log information from your truck. You can monitor 49 different parameters out of the box. There are a ton of different themes and gauge settings. Out of the box you get 13 total tunes. 4 of those tunes are DPF on tunes up to 150 extra horsepower. The other 9 are DPF delete tunes up to 250 extra horsepower, including a stock no regen tune and 210 tow performance tune. There are also 275, 310, and 350 hp race tunes for additional costs. That is about the best run down of the tuner I can give you. A lot of people ask about fuel economy. The only thing I can really say is I have seen personal gains on my truck and there are hundreds of other members on here that report gains as well. Typically fuel mileage is going to depend on gear ratio, tire size, lift, and your right foot, but with right setup you can see 20 mpg out of these trucks with our tuning. Hope this helps! |

is this something I can do in the driveway:
drop the DPF, put in the MBRP straight DPF del pipe and or system then install the spartan....load a del dpf tune....and away we go....20 mpg am i missing something? |

Yes, you can do it in the driveway/garage. It's always nice to have a buddy with you when you do it though. The DPF is pretty heavy. As for MBRP, they don't actually make anything to delete the DPF....just DPF back exhaust systems. You can however buy a delete pipe setup, and then run an MBRP DPF back exhaust with it. That is what is about to go on my truck actually.
On a side note, I'm not guaranteeing 20 mpg. It is achievable on the right setup truck. If you have a completely stock ride height truck with 3.73 or 3.55 gears then it is achievable on the highway. Your looking at probably 13-16 around town depending on how you drive. 16-20 on the highway....maybe more than 20 with 3.55 gears if you have them. Like I said, it's all in the right foot if you have the right set up truck. Also note that the higher horsepower tunes typically yield the best fuel mileage. |

how about the spartan tuner......so i just use stock tune and flip the del dpf switch

The tuner is 100% plug and play. All you have to do is follow the on screen commands once you plug it in to your OBDII port. Nothing hard about it.

thanks for all your good info....
one more....what brand/model DPF kit should I get...and what material? 304/409SS? |
|
|||
|
No one makes 304 stainless delete pipes. They are all aluminized or 409. The best delete pipes in my opinion are the Powerstroker67 one piece design pipes that dpfdeletekits.com offers. You can also get them ceramic coated. Flo-Pro and AFE make delete pipes as well. We offer the AFE stainless 4" delete pipes with our $1599.00 package deal.

next dumb question:
to kill the cats or not kill the cats? I have to pass texas emissions |
|

|
If you remove anything you are subject to failure of the test. All you have to do is put it back on before you do emissions testing.
