Anybody tried the Superchips Cortex?
Hey guys I pulled the trailer today with the 08 KR and it pulled it well. The mileage is the only sore point. Has anyone tried the Superchips Cortex on these trucks? I did some searching but didnt find alot of info. Anyway thanks to anyone who can give an honest opinion of the tuner.

it was a good chip i had one in my 08 before i went to the spartan, bumped the hp a bit and the milege went up about 2mpg on most tanks, the one thing i found with it though after about 25000miles the truck regened a little more often and if you were ever towing with it it would go about 100miles between regens, i think it was starting to clog the filter,
but other than that it always ran good and i never had any problems with it. |

It was good for clogging my DPF.

I figured being such a mild tune it wouldn't be too bad for the DPF.

You would think. I had 6000 miles on my truck 2000 of that with the Superchips and my DPF was clogged up.

Its starting to look like I either have to leave it stock or do the full DPF delete with a Spartan. I guess the Spartan would clog the DPF pretty fast too. The Diesel Tech I take the truck to says he likes the Edge tuners, he didnt have much good to say about the Hypertech, said it set off lots of CEL's on the truck he saw it on. He said the Superchips was pretty good though....

Most tuners will clog the DPF rather quickly, Superchips is no exception. They just released a Race version which I was very surprised to see.

Would the race version be in the Cortex tuner? or a completley different unit? race version is a DPF delete I assume?

Its a completely different unit. Yes, Race version is DPF delete.

I talked to the dealer today and they said they dont have a problem with tuners as long as they dont cause the problem that you want warranty to cover. So it looks like I'm good to go.
