which tuner for milage ?

I know a lot of you guys use spartan and thats the one im leaning towards, but. The only reason I want the tuner is for milage gains. I dont need any more power. I dont race or pull anything with the truck. Its just a lifted toy with 40" tires and crappy milage. The sct is half the price and if it will give me the same milage as the spartan than maybe ill go with it. I plan on doing an intake, exhaust, and the tuner. Any suggestions ? thanks

I got 17.2 mpg today on a highway trip from Kennesaw, GA to Hilton Head, SC running the 210 tune Spartan tune. I kept my RPM's right at 2,000 RPM's. It probably would have been a little better with the 275 tune.

Personally I don't think you can go wrong with any of the big three (Spartan, H&S or Sct) all it comes down to is your budget and how much horse power your looking to gain.

I personally have a spartan which I'm completely satisfied with, if I had it to do over again I would go with the H&S minimaxx because of the size and the shift on the fly tuning.

All this is fairly new to me tuner wise. So forgive some of the questions, but in order to get the most milage I have to get the biggest horsepower I can ? Like I said I dont really need more power, just the milage.

Typically on a diesel truck, the higher horsepower the tune the better fuel mileage you get.

No reason to pay over a grand you only need an H&S XRT tuner for your needs , Youll be satisfied.

08 stroker, I know you are a big spartan fan but from reading some of your post I trust your opinion. Will the cheaper priced sct livewire get as good of milage as the spartan ?
If they are the same hp ratings ?

I got .5 MPG difference between the two.

I've got the livewire, and am running 35'' tires, I can get about 16mpg on their extreme setting almost all hwy and I've got a fx4 supercab shortbed. I don't baby it and that is pretty good to me for mileage.

Second issue, I've had problems with the SCT which I won't get much into unless you PM me. But I will say that the customer service is lacking greatly in comparison to H&S and Spartan. I will be converting, which seems to be the norm for most people that buy the livewire. For more cost effective solution of those 2 companies you could try the H&S mini maxx, which is only $999.

I actually work for Spartan, so that might make me a little biased. Hopefully it won't though.
