DPF and smoke
If you deleted the DPF, but left the DOC and muffler installed on a stock tuned truck, would there be any increase in exhaust smoke?

I still have my stock muffler but have a dpf/cat delete pipe and smoke pretty good when i get on it with the 250 spartan tune. I was going to just delete dpf but after alot of research it sounded like it was more trouble than what its worth so i just took both out

The smoke is caused by the right foot. If you stab the throttle it will smoke on a stock DPF off tune.

greaseltn is correct. I have the doc/dpf delete with sct trans only tune and you will 'some' smoke when throttle is quickly applied. WOT will produce more smoke, but not anything real heavy. Basically it is smoking until the turbo boost really catches up. Also if using cruise it throws smoke when going up inclines, such as overpasses. I bought my truck with just over 100k and did the work to it mainly because I idle for long periods in the summer (mobile oilfield office) and did not want to clog the dpf. I have been doing research on how to cut back on the smoke because I pull a white boat and really do not want to have it full of soot when arriving the destination. I thought there was something wrong with the truck, but after research it seems most trucks do this. Now I understand why the dpf has so much trouble, being it is trying to clean all this soot. Good news is my oil level is now holding rock steady since deleting. good luck and please post if anyone has found resolution.
