Black Smoke!

I have a 2008 F350 Dually 6.4 with Edge CTS AFE exhaust dpb cat/DPF delete and banks cold air intake and was wondering how to get that black smoke to boil like I see a lot of other diesels doing?

You have to get rid of the DPF and DOC (Cat) to get black smoke. With the DPF/DOC intact, you won't get any smoke...unless your DPF is blown through, which is not good.

EDIT - Whoops, didn't notice you already had a DPF delete on your truck. You will need a tuner that gives high horsepower tuning options. The CTS does not provide high horsepower tuning options.

Sorry its a little off topic but are there any options for tuners for the 6.4 that are adjustable on the run like the DP tuner or the edge? Because I love my SCT but I wish I could change it on the fly

I'm getting 100hp extra from the CTS but I guess its not enough .great to know thanks.

Is that what Edge says it'll give you or is that proven dyno numbers?

Thats what edge says and no they are not proven but i can tell you that i am learning a lot from this website. i am afraid if i added more hp i would need to upgrade tranny. this CTS Edge is new this year according to what i read and in level 4 from a dead start coming out of 1st gear it seems to slip but if i am doing a rolling start say 20mph then it doesnt slip. I dont know what the hell i'm doing but i am trying to learn thanks for the help.

haha Well good thing you're learning. The Edge products are fine if you take it real easy on the truck. The 5R110 is a pretty stout transmission. With custom tunes it should slip less.

EDGE doesn't tune the transmission, however, Spartan, H&S, and SCT do tune the tranny! The tranny will last a long time if you have it tuned right! Let us know if we can help, btw what part of TN are you in?
