Which TCM tune to tow with?
Ok guys, I just purchased the TCM from Spartan and also have my tunes to go with it, up to and including the 310. I am doing most of my towing with a tag along trailer, very little with my gooseneck. When I cross the scales with my truck and trailer I am generally in the 19-22.5k range. 90% of my towing is 45mph or less. My truck is a job 1. With that being said, which tune would you go with? Thanks in advance.

the smallest tune you have a tcm tune for(i believe spartan recommends the 150 for liability, but i tow with the 210)

I don't think there is a specific 210 tow tune with the TCM. I believe Mick told me that the 210 tow tune and the 210 TCM tune are very similar though. Am I wrong? Is there supposed to be 2 different 210's for the TCM?

My truck has the Spartan TCM and I ran the 210 tune with it for a while, until I couldn't stand how slow my truck is with it!....lol Anyway, I just installed a Spartan setup w/o TCM upgrade on a customers truck and loaded the 210 tow tune. It is nothing like the 210 TCM tune. The converter locks up noticeably sooner with the 210 tow.

Ok. Well, maybe when the 210 Tow is available for the job 1 trucks I can get it. Will be bad if it is better suited for what I am doing than the TCM tunes. I have been pulling with my non-TCM 250 tune. It has a little more grunt when I need it. I am not pulling the truck too hard for long distances. Time will tell. Thanks guys.

I talked to Mick on the phone today and he told me that the 210 tow performance tune is not a TCM tune and that once they get it "fixed" I will have to put my stock TCM back on. He said that the 210 tune for the TCM is all together different from the tow tune. I hope they can come up with a tow performance tune that will work with their TCM so we don't have to swap back and forth.

Your correct, they are different, but you can use your 210 tcm tune to tow with just like the 210 tow tune. I believe the 210 tow tune may lock up a little earlier than the 210 tcm tune, but not by much. Myself, I would not remove the Spartan tcm so I could load the 210 tow tune. Both should yield almost the same results keeping the converter locked in any gear higher than second. The 210 tow tune was made for those that do not have the Spartan tcm installed. It gives those customers something better to tow with than the regular shifting on the 210 tune.
