My experience with Spartan
When I learned about the Spartan tuner on this forum I couldn't wait to get one and put it on my truck. I received my spartan, S&B intake and dpf/cat delete a couple of days ago and started putting it on right away. Now I was a little hesitant about the delete pipe cause I was still trying to get some warranty work done so I put the intake on and was told on this forum that I could install the spartan without doing the delete pipe and just run the dpf on tunes. Well thats just what I did and now I'm not so sure that I will do anything else. The first time I drove my truck with the 150 dpf on tune I couldn't keep my foot out of the floor. This thing chirped the tires in second gear. IMPRESSIVE!! I'm not sure that I have enough self control to put any higher tunes on this truck. So with the concern about:
1. possibility of fines 2. The hassle of changing the exhaust to get work done 3. The risk of damaging my truck I'm not sure what I will do from this point. I have a dpf/cat delete pipe sitting in the box and that may be were it will stay. So for those of you who are concerned about the above issue you might want to try what I did. You wont be disappointed. |

Only had it on for 2 days and as said before can't keep my foot out of it. I will try to get a true reading and let you know.

How frequent were your regens and how frequent are they now with the Spartan DPF-ON tune?

I had mine like that for 30 days and didn't see any mileage gains. I just deleted my DPF/DOC + AFE Stage II Intake yesterday, today I went on a road trip to Bass Pro Shops and got 21 MPG hand calculated. Go take the damn DPF off and get some good mileage and a big smile at the same time.

LOL Hard to get MPG numbers when there's a dent in the floorboards from the loud pedal

Don't really care much about MPG's right now even though I should since it was a selling point with the BOSS. I will probably go with the complete delete, just trying to get someone to convince me not too. I should know thats not going to happen on here. lol

Around 400 miles pre spartan. It tried to regen on me last night 5 miles from the house, so I haven't had it on long enough to know how it work now.

I think your reaction to the Spartan is almost identical to mine. I never had a fast vehicle until now. (my last car was a 4 door Pontiac) I also said that I wasnt gonna even look at my mpg until I was done having fun with the truck, but I've put 4k miles on it since and I still can't stop speeding around

I have a heard that keeping the DPF on and having a tuner will cause it to clog up and have to be replaced. is that true?
