P1096 Engine oil temp sensor range/performance

Is this code anything to be worried about? I was running the 275 and this code came up. No CEL or anything just the code on the dash daq. I sent a text to Cha Cha and they say that the enging oil temp sensor only reads the temp and it is not used for anything else. I didn't know if anyone else had this code come up or how to correct it. Once I loaded the 210 there were no codes and the code didn't come back up when I loaded the 275 again. I am waiting to talk to Mick because the 275 isn't running right on my truck at all but he is hard to get ahold of on the phone, I know he is busy but I would like to get my problems worked out.

Just be patient. Matt is out of town at SEMA for the week, so Mick is VERY overwhelmed right now with phone calls and emails. If you call him, leave him a voicemail with your name and number, he will ALWAYS get back to you. Also send him a PM and email at techsupport@spartandieseltech.com

Nothing can be done about your 275 tune until Matt is back in town anyway, so I would run the 210 for the rest of the week if its bothering you.

I am being patient, i just want it taken care of. Mick told me he would be lucky if he had any hair left come Friday he is so busy. That's understandable and not really an issue, I just want to be able to run it. If I had it for a month or 2 and the problem came up I wouldn't be as worried about it but I've only had it for 2 weeks maybe and haven't got to run the 275 much, which may be a good thing cause I could easily get in trouble with it. That is in no way a gripe in anyway, I would reccomend them to anyone and I have faith that it will get taken care of. But, do you know anything about that code?

Ya 1096 I believe. That's what I wrote down anyway. It said engine oil temp senor range/performance. I have seen a list of the codes and that code was not on there. I don't know if you have heard of cha cha, but you can text them a question and they will give you an answer. I sent them a text and they replied with the same answer as what the dash daq read.

Ok, I found it. Its P0196, not P1096.

Description:
This error occurs if time required for EOT to warm up to
50º C is greater than the specified value or the EOT does
not change by at least 2 degrees from the value stored
in KAM, followed with the engine running off low idle.

Software parameters required to set code:
EOT dependant
20minutes of engine running and EOT
has not changed more than 5 deg C

Service instructions/Part replaced:
Wiring, ECT sensor, PCM

I let the truck warm up for about 10 min drove 3 miles let it idle for another 15 or so then drove for 30 min and then checked for codes and that came up after my driving and everything. It may have come up before then but didn't check until then. You think there is any issue?

I am not sure really. That is the first time I have ever seen that code in the time I have been on the forums. It didn't affect drivability?

No, nothing that I noticed. That cha cha said that all that sensor does "is strickly measure the temperature of your engine oil." I wanted to check though because I am not going to base my answers off of a text messaging service.

Yea, dont blame you there. I am not sure if that sensor will need to be replaced or not. It might affect the way your DashDAQ reads your oil temp if it is bad or eventually goes bad. That would be my only concern
