He is good at what he does, but when it comes to diesel he likes to claim that hes the best at it. He may be very good, but he is not the best. Calling "smoke boys" cheaters for making big power is ridiculous. I watched a show on the speed channel the other night which featured him and a guy from Year One talking about various things they've done for the industry. Gale's Cummins powered sidewinder dakota blows some good black smoke itself, so he seems to contradict himself sometimes. To make big power some excess smoke is going to be a result, unless they can figure out how to get gigantic turbos to light without throwing excess fuel at them I don't see any other way. He just gets on my nerves....that's all. Wonder what Peter T would have to say. He's a banks rep, haven't seen him post on here in a while. |

Gales point when it comes to black smoke is in regards to street vehicles. everyone knows that a full bore race truck like the sidewinder or any pulling truck is going to belch black smoke from simply dumping as much fuel down it as possible. on the street however that is wasted fuel, when you are trying to give people power AND fuel mileage increases that is a bad thing. |

When I bought my 2008 at the end of march the dealership tried to sell me exhaust and a programmer for my truck, I told them hell yeah, put it in there with the price of the truck. The parts guy looked at me with a smile from ear to ear. I even told him to overnight it because I wanted it here yesterday. I just sat there as I waited for him to get the answer that I already knew, that there wasn't any exhaust or programmers out yet. Needless to say he looked like a complete fool trying to sell me something that wasn't out yet. However, I asked him if I did get a programmer, exhaust, and intake would it void my warranty? He told me no, but then again no one around the dealership could tell me or even knew what the DPF was on the truck. Anyway, make a long story short I had that put into make contract that the dealer will not void the warranty if I do these mods. p.s. I'm not sure what the guy is on who is trash talking Gale Banks, but the man is a god in the diesel industry, in fact you can thank him for most of what we have today for our trucks. |

I see that I struck a nerve with some of you. I want to make myself clear. First off, I joined this site for the same reason you guys did and that was to share knowledge and the same interest that we all have in diesels, when I say that we should thank Gale Banks for what we have on our trucks today I mean as far as what he has done for the industry. I totally agree that more credit should be given to the farm boy that makes twice the power for half the cost. I totally agree the Bank's products are way over priced. I understand that big rig or semi drivers were doing this long before he came along. I'm saying that with the huge "budget" he has for advertising, that bother the hell out of "MANY, MANY, MANY" of you, is a big reason why so many other companies have taken notice to the diesel market, I mean come on up until recently the big 3 have really never had a diesel war for who has more factory power, even Toyota is trying to look into it, and never have there been magazines out like Diesel Power and 8 Lug. I agree that the man has gotten a big head of late, but I think credit should be due to the one responsible for really catching the eye of the public using his ridiculous budget for advertising for these awesome trucks. I mean no other company has stepped by to the plate and proven his products, with the Baja races with Donhoe and KORE, the salt flats, and the D-Max road race truck. I'm not saying he is the best, but you can't tell me he doesn't have a huge influence on this industry.....
