tranny problems
Last nite I started hearing noises from under the truck. Sounded like the exhaust was rattling loose or something but it was all tight and secure. It was still making the noise while idling.Shortly after my transmission started slipping.running the 275 v4. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about the noise, but I will say that my tranny does not like my 275 v4. I don't know why, but I have never been able to get mine to learn properly.

Don't feel Bad about not learning, mine will not learn either, I go through 3 gears in 10 foot been waiting for SPARTAN to reply but that sure is takeing alot of time. |

shifting with v4
shifting is very funny feeling, almost like it confused about going in and out of lockup. feels like alot more stress on the trans to me.

For the most part it usually shifts pretty good. Sometimes I think i catch it in between gears or something but its been doing very well. I dont know whats going on with it now.

When you say your tranny was slipping, what exactly was it doing?

usually it has great throttle repsonse, which makes the pedal kinda touchy in first. when i was taking off the other night, if felt like it didn't wanna go, kinda like when driving a stick shift and u got the clutch about half way pushed in

Was it like it was caught in 3rd gear? That has happened to me before after a WOT run with the 275 v3. Not sure if this is the same issue that your having, but getting caught in a gear is different than the converter slipping. I think it has more to do with the clutches. I could be wrong about this though, hopefully someone will chime in that knows more about transmissions than me

actually, yes thats exactly what it felt like but it did it several times, even after cutting the truck off. and with the clanking noises i'm hearing from under the truck??

Hmmm, this could be a clutch disc problem caused from a recent WOT run. The way you can see what your converter is doing is monitor your Torque Slip RPM on the DashDAQ, get out on the highway where you can get up to about 70 mph, and then from 70 mph punch it and watch the Torque Slip RPM gauge. If that number jumps way up, you might have something wrong with the converter. If it stays really low, then your converter is fine. It will get high in the lower gears, like over 1000 at times, but you want to monitor it when the converter is locked and the tranny wont downshift.
ALSO, try reloading the tune and see what happens and go do some runs letting the tranny learn again... |
