OUCH that would hurt the ole pocket book... Not sure if they go around stopping people to check trucks for missing stuff...Kinda makes me second guess ordering all the stuff now...

Dang, penalty for removing a catalytic converter, or driving without one if originally equipped on a gasser is 10,000. Guess it is cheaper on a diesel. (At least for the cat.)

I have a buddy with a 2006 Dodge that an EPA guy caught him "smoking up" an intersection as he pulle dinto the gas station.

EPA Guy: "I noticed your truck smoking real bad."

Buddy: "Yeah, it's been doing that off and on for a bit. I'm not sure what's causing it and neither is the dealer. I have to take it back in tomorrow."

EPA Guy: " I think you know what it is....The fine for that is $10,000. I suggest you get it fixed, ASAP!"

Buddy: "Yessir!"

Needless to say...he hasn't changed anything (well, except knock out his cat...lol)

But back to the original topic...Either way, it isn't cheap. Do it at your own risk. We all know it is against the law, but choose not to follow it and have no one to blame but ourselves if we get caught (except maybe the tree hugging liberals). Thanks God my truck didn't come with a cat or a DPF or an EGR valve, etc.

Had mine off for about a year with no problems, even had it inspected and radiator replaced with no dpf. Cruising around mine didn't really smoke that much anyway, just when you laid into it. I live in Laporte and drive to Pasadena everyday, also do alot of driving in and around Houston with never a problem like that. I think you blow a bunch of coal with any Hot Rod Diesel your probably gonna get pulled over anyway, no matter what you drive.
