Cherry diesel owner looking for grownup mod advice

Greetings all. I just bought my first ever diesel, and first Ford in a whole lotta years. Glad to be here. Looking for grownups to help guide my purchases to improve a great truck.

I only tow a limited amount (utility trailer hauling stuff around some weekends, and a boat in the warmer months... perhaps will tow a travel trailer for long weekends in the future). Mostly, I want to improve fuel economy on a daily driver and towing, but have all the performance I know is hidden under my hood. I'd like to keep my warranty intact, and don't want to see idiot lights on my dash cluster.

My lovely and talented wife is hypersensitive to dropping cash on toys...so I will be adding stuff gradually.

I ordered a S&B cold air intake. It's in the mail. Very excited. I'd like recommendations from the board on what I should add sequentially (in what priority), with rationale for each.

Thanks in advance!

Your going to learn quickly that there are a ton of great mods for these trucks but none of them are cheap.

To get better mileage, more power, and better towing performance your going to want to get a tuner, and a dpf/cat delete pipe. Most including myself will suggest the spartan package. They will give you three custom tunes, delete pipe, and a monitoring device for i think somewhere between 1600-1700.

Now as for warranty. You will have to remove the DPF from the truck so if you ever need to go in for service your going to need to put it back on or else they may flag you and you could potentially lose that warranty.

he is right thats the only way to get better perfomance or mpg period. if you get a tuner that you will leave the dpf on the truck will go into regen more often causing you to have worse mpg. it stinks but its pretty much loose the dpf or just leave it alone

yep, most will recommend a spartan and DPF delete.

Cool. Thanks fellas. I see Spartan fans are everywhere as I log more time on the board. I'm sold. It looks like Cobb's shows a 4" kit with the Spartan for about $1600. I'll worry about which tunes when I squirrel away enough cash to buy the thing without sleeping on the couch.

What other mods? Downpipe? EGR blocks? Fuzzy dice?

I would def think about getting headstuds and egr delete before the fuzzy dice, some trucks just can't handle them stock without supporting mods
