LMAO, I guess the star pattern on the piston is supposed to be some magical symbol that only trained professionals know to look for!

So, you are telling me that if it's not tuned it does not have the star pattern.

Guess what, the star pattern is there whether it's tuned or not, what else you got?

I didn't say it wasn't. But the hotter the tune the more noticable the pattern will be, especially if it's pulling timing.

Take a look back through countless threads where there are pictures of the pistons, many of trucks have had the star pattern burn on there due to poor tuning.

I wasn't referring to what you said only agreeing, that it matters not. The piston will have the star either way.

This is what I'm referring to. You can clearly see the patterns in the piston. This is from TwinTurboStroker's truck from a while ago with the 210 on it.

They leave the bread crumbs behind, it's just up to the Tech find them. There is no "undetectable" tuner IMO.

I understand that the star pattern will be there no matter what, that's just the nature of the engine, but tuners do make the pattern more pronounced. I can't find it at the moment but there is a picture of a 6.0 and the pattern is litterally burnt onto the piston and actually on the cylinder walls, the fuel was being dumped out of the bowl before the piston was even in position lol.

Once you think about it, it's not funny at all.
The hotter the tune, the more defined the pattern. I would bet my truck's pistons look like the second coming of Patrick Star.
I don't care. I bought the thing knowing full well the consequences, I just don't want others to be naive enough to think there isn't another tell tale sign for the field reps to see.

Thats what I am saying, the star pattern on the pistons in my truck didn't even look as bad as twinturbostrokers and I would bet 26K or more miles on my truck were the 275 or 310 tune. I know what I am looking for so please don't insult me or other forum members. As PainTrain stated the "Star Pattern" is not a top secret sign that the trucks been tuned.

Trust me, you'll know full well when I'm insulting you....
If I felt like insulting you, you would have no doubt.
That wasn't my intention at all, but I guess you have a little ego problem to overcome. I'll help you later in the post...
My post was for those who do not know, and assume the only traces of tuning would be electronic.
If it weren't for Matt, I would have probably sold this lame stock engine last year, so my intentions are not to bash any tuners or tuning. I couldn't live with this truck without my Spartan. As soon as my Scorpion arrives, Matt's tune goes in.

Now, I know you must be a diesel know-it-all because you probably look in the mirror and see Rudolph Diesel..(insult intended), and you must be in a catagory of godliness and knowledge that nobody can touch, so my post wasn't intended for you, the arrogant.
I hope you burn your $hit to the ground some day with little star patterns burned into the asphalt as a reminder of this...
Believe it or not, and unlike you, the rest of the world logs in to learn from the ground up as we all did at one point. I was hoping to alert some of the unsuspecting to not rely on just the electronic "untracaebility" of a tuner, and that a major warranty job still has to pass by the field rep 80% of the time. That guy has two jobs, but his primary motive is to save FoMoCo money on warranty work. I just had a friend of mine pay almost 14K for a new engine because of traces of homemade bio fuel in the lines...
Thanks for allowing me to pass you by next time I make a purchase, and to recommend just about anyone else other than Cobbs when asked...

If you would like to finish on a better note, I suggest that you start retracting the insults of your own....
I would rather not get ugly here anymore and delete all of this..
