I have pulled mine a few times with a little success and i always use 4 lo. You wont run out of gear. Here is a couple videos to watch. YouTube - Powerstroke sled pull, Open Class YouTube - 1st Place Street Diesel Class, Wadena County Fair. |

![]() Seriously, the way a 7.3 pulls is dramatically different then how a 6.4 pulls. For 7.3's it's simple. Keep it in 2nd if you have less then 450 rwhp on average tracks, let it shift to 3rd if you have more then 450 rwhp on average tracks. Tighter tracks require lower gear, looser tracks allow higher gear. You want to gain 2 things when sled pulling. Momentum and wheel speed. Here is what I do, and may or may not work with 6.4's or 6.0's. I manually have it in 2nd gear with O/D clicked off. I build about 10psi of boost and go ahead and bring the sled out. I lock the converter as soon as I'm at 3200+ rpm's. Then I shift it into D to allow it to go into 3rd. The sooner you can get your wheel speed up and into your final gear the better chance you have. Usually I try to have it there by the 75 foot mark. |

i have never cared what the track condition was , i put it in 4 lo, and hammer it out the gate and never let out till something breaks , and let the transmission shift as it wants to , it is designed to do its own job , if it breaks i fix it , if you worry about breaking something no need to pull it at all

Pulled my 08' 6.4 tonight. 4 hi and 2 gear. 334 ft and a first place as the one guy that beat me was disqualified. I think next time I am going to try 4low and drive or 3rd with tow haul.
