H&S Tuned 6.4...tranny problems!?!???!
Well I've had this truck almost a year. When I first bought it, the tranny slipped once or twice but I didn't think anything of it. H&S Was installed this past spring and everything seemed good. But now (more often than not) it'll slip into 2nd or 3rd gear. AND...now it will intermittently SLAM into reverse when I shift it from Drive or Park. I'll cycle it through the gears a few times, and it stops. I'm at 49,500 miles right now...should I just put everything back to stock and take it to Ford? Or could it just be the H&S doing it? I've never been a fan of tuners you can change on the fly, but I heard good things about H&S...now I'm rethinking it.
What do yall think....Take it Ford before the warranty runs out? Or is it just the tuner? Anyone else have this happen? Thanks for the help gents and gals! |

Well the shift on the fly doesn't apply to the tranny as far as I know. Do you drive the truck hard or race? You said the tranny was acting up before you installed the tuner so that is probably a large part of the issue is that it was already there and now it is getting worse. What tune do you run? Which trans tune are you using?

I guess no matter which tunes you run or how you drive the truck I would just return to stock and take it in. I am assuming you still have warranty.

Yep I still have warranty for another 10k miles till the drivetrain warranty runs out. It's on the HotDamn 300 tune...never raced, never even been full throttle. It slipped once when I first bought it...but it's started doin this garbage lately. I'm running the S2M tune. The reason I think the shift tuning on the fly is an issue, is cuz I know from owning a 6.0, that the 5r110s like to have a chance to relearn...which is why I always ran SCT on the old truck and flash tuned it.
Just think its crunch time now...but u know the thing is...Suncoast is less than 20 minutes from my house LOL if only I had 3 grand laying around...LOL |

I've got a Job 2 08... bought it with 108k, loaded the H&S the next day, getting close to 150k, running HD300 the whole time, and not a single hiccup from the tranny |

Yeah it's a Job 1...I've never heard about solenoid issues...is it common?

common enough that I've heard about it in the year that I've owned my 6.4

I have a job 2 truck with same issue. I have also heard it is a soleniod issue. I took it to the dealer with the programmer on, but they could not diagnose it do to the porgrammer. Im going to get the trany rebuild anyway, with the suncoast setup.
