Tranny slips out of gear while at stop

So last night my gear selector became extremely hard to put in gear... Almost to the point that I couldn't move the shift lever. This happened again today while leaving my house, but got better the more errands that I ran. It got to the point where the stiffness completely went away. BUT then while at a stop light, my truck just acted like it was in neutral when trying to accelerate! I couldn't get it to engage again without turning my truck off and then restarting it. (from park position) this happened multiple times until I just parked it. If you didn't stop, it drove fine, but it wasn't drivable in traffic. Off to the Shop I go! No warranty either due to exhaust, tunes, and intake. Truck is 09 F250 CCSB with 58k miles

I need to add important info that may help diagnose this problem... On my H&S blackmax, the screen showed that my truck was in D3. It occured to me today that maybe my truck is not downshifting after It upshifts a few gears. I never got it going faster than 30 mph (maybe less), so im guessing that it felt like it was in neutral at a stop because it was really in 3rd gear. If I restarted the truck, then it reset itself back to D1. It sounds electrical to me. Is there a "shift" sensor, or something similar that could be acting up? Please help if you know anything
