Cool! My GPS is currently mounted above the dash. Thinking I want to keep the radio control head a bit less obvious. Looking behind the seat I am not confident there is space. Then again there appears to be space under the rear seat. More stuff than I realized is located under the front seats.

I have an Extra class license and at the moment I admit I do not know what maximum power is allowed on 2m. When I was originally licensed it was 1500 watts to the input. Then recently (last 10 or 20 years) revised to 1000 watts out because that is easier to measure. With a 45W or 50W radio I don't worry about the legal limit too much.

However one should not forget the clause, "Use no more power than necessary for reliable communication." I almost never run more than 5W. But the radio will run 50W, so on installation I need to provide for that with current and cooling.

Same here, I run 5w usually as well, but occasionally turn it up to 50 when I'm far enough away from the repeater. I haven't tried any HF stuff yet. That takes a bit more money, hum, truck accessories or more ham stuff ! I need a higher paying job!
