All,
I have some thoughts. I figure that I would be more likely to sell these if they were
less expensive than more. ie Stripped down model vs fully loaded.
I know in this depressed economy some people are really hurting...
all this being said. my personal version would be.
Exterior Covered interior lined with felt also with doors and latches without locks.
the stripped down model would be not covered no doors no liner.
where as one could order the doors in the future if wanted but the covering part
is so custom that i could not send that as an option.

Also if the unit was not covered. it would be black on black the outside would be textured. And could be painted to match if desired.

lastly for the gun issues. I made some gun holders and ended up deciding that their are too many variations, gun length, with scope? etc... so in the case of a gun. I would offer 3 padded components and a strap system to hold any gun in place...

any thoughts/criticisms would be greatly appreciated.

This new unit is lighter all plastic, which means more room (inside) crazy amount of room.I estimate about 30% more than my first unit
Also Ill still offer it upholstered. and with lockable doors and... for those of you Yes, I did fit 2 full size shot guns in it.
Very Nice. To me that was the only advantage of the Cabela's Truck. I just got my new F350 Lariat today and I would very much like one of these as pictured above for gun storage. I can just put the rifles in soft cases and slide them in. I don't need the doors. I have a Paypal account and I am ready to purchase just as soon as you are ready to sell. Thanks, Todd

The new version looks good, but the glass version had much better contours and the upholstery really made it look like it was part of the truck. Any chance I could get the original version?

All,
I have the final box completed. (just the plain version) it will be available with doors.
I hope to complete the final molds for the doors over the weekend. I located a vendor for the door hardware. but they tell me it will take 20 days to ship my order so another month for door hardware. (yikes!) I made a Clear unit so eveyone can see the real fit and how the compound curves fit into/under the seat. Also, I have yet to even see if these will fit any other F-2,3,450's (any one interested in becoming a test guppie?)
Also i located a vendor for a box to ship these things in. so perhaps in a week I'll have some doors ready for the unit to be complete. I also have to visit the custom covering
of the units. I think Im going to cover several units and see how it goes from their.

For those of you still Interested. perhaps you could answer some questions for me.
This would be a great help.

keep in mind that the door hardware is going to be a hold up for me. this wont prevent the unit from being installed or functional it will just have a hole where the hardware needs to go I can ship it out when they come in.

Here are the units as I see them.

Unit 1: Just the plain box. uncovered and no doors. (only in black) just like my most recent pics.

Unit 2: Plain Box with doors and door hardware. (unit 1 can upgrade the doors later)

Unit 3: Same as unit 2 but with inner liner. this is like felt.

Unit 4: the Box upholstered just like my original one. and with the inner felt.
(this is basically the pimped out model) If this is you. the can you supply the following info. is black ok? or would you want the matching carpet and vinyl/leather?
please look at my first box. this is how/what it will look with perhaps the exception of colors.

All these boxes assume you will remove your under seat rack (if one exists)
and it bolts in using the same holes (so no drilling)

as for the price I am yet to get their. I know some of you are interested and also live on a budget. ( see unit #1) and then theirs the people who want the tricked out unit.
(see unit #4)

Im not looking for any commitments. Im really testing the waters for how many of the units will require upholstery.

last if its a generic question. please post in the open so other may benefit. otherwise PM me and Ill answer you asap.
Thanks all
Sam

Forgot to add.
For those of you sporting a gun or guns. This unit will easily hold 2 full size shotguns.
or 1 full size shotgun w/scope.
I'll get some pics together and post.
