I'm interested in this as well.

The origional rack was in fact to provide storage space for heavier items that you don't want sliding around (not sure why you wouldn't put them in the back then, but ooh well).

Ford actually has a "Cabelas" edition vehicle coming out this fall, I noticed that instead of the under seat rack, it has an under seat lockable storage box (put 'yer guns and stuff in it). I'd be interested in purchasing this as a standalone item..... anyone ever see it anywhere, or see one in person?

That sounds cool. I would be interested in that too. The platform rack thing I have now is useless to me and annoying. I think I'm gonna take it out.

No mention of a part number for this piece though.... We'll probably have to wait a while for it to be available.

The one from DUHA goes behind the seat in the 2008 Super duty's also it does not fit with a power sliding rear window.

I have the Du-Ha, put it in after my truck got broken into.... works really well, provides some decent, lockable space under the backseat. It's kind of expensive, but I recommend it.
