Steveonator,

No, once your tune is loaded you don't have to run the Dashdaq,,till I found a decent way to mount mine(and it does look permanent) I left it on the workbench. Looks like crap with the windshield mount and its a wide open invitation to have your truck broken into mounted that way. The biggest reason I mounted mine is because of all of the different paramenters the gauge setup allows me to monitor that the factory gauges don't....like egt's, etc.

Thanks for the pic. I think I like it better there than up ontop of the dash. I wasnt able to open the pics of the guys who mounted theirs in the ashtray location. I wonder if that would be a little bit better/closer for touch screen apps (Im a bit vertically challenged!)

Thats why I used the Edge mount that someone else posted,,,I also painted it with semi flat black trim paint,,,blends right in to the upper dash,,good visability, user friendly,,,,the Edge mount cost me 30 bucks at 4 Wheel Parts.

Hey Stevonator,

The simple answer is no. Once you have the tune loaded onto the truck (vehicle) you don't need the dashdaq except for all the gauges and accessories you want to be able to read. Any tunes are in the vehicle's computer and the Dashdaq can be absent, so worries about theft can be eliminated.

Thanks everyone, I'm looking forward to this but I only have a thousand miles on the new rig...its gonna have to wait a little bit and until I can afford it, but I'm sure this is the way to go. I like the idea of having it stealth hidden in the cup holder, which I dont use anyway since my center console has 2 cupholders. Anyone have any pics or info on mounting in there??

Someone has done it here but not sure who...there is a pic floating around. Do a search in all the 6.4 forums and I'm sure you will find it.
