Question DashDAQ Mount

That's very cool! I've got the DashDAQ and a Garmin GPS both mounted to the windshield with the suction cup mounts and as I looked at my truck from the outside the other day, I thought it sure would be nice to get those things off the windshield, that looks like sh*t on a beautiful new Ford truck!

I looked at Stealth's web site and see that the pod isn't exactly for the DashDAQ, but a universal one, so some questions, if you don't mind.

How are you holding the unit into the pod?
Does the pod stick to the dash with double faced tape?
Where did you route you OBDII cable?

I'm jealous and thinking of stealing your idea that you stole from the other guy!

Steve

the pod is not uneversal, it's for the edge attitude and insight. it just snaps into place which is nice cause it doesn't leave any holes or sticky junk behind. the cord just goes over and runs down the inside of the weather striping and out at the bottom, i zip striped it up so it's not in my feet. you could run it through the dash but i wanted to be able to take it out easily.
the dd is attached with 2 small strips of balsa wood that run vertiacally on the inside of the pod. the dd is screwed to the wood sandwiching the pod lip inbetween the dd and the wood. some people use metal but that's all i had sittin around. i'll change it next time i have it apart. all in all it turned out pretty good and i can remove it without and permanent damage to the trucks dash.

I see, that makes sense why it is mounted on the front of the unit rather than inside. The Edge Attitude is quite a bit smaller than the DashDAQ so it certainly won't fit in the window. Don't suppose there is room on the inside between the dash and the pod for a DashDAQ, is there? To low of a profile I suspect.
I've been looking around for something like this too and you're right, for the money it is the best buy. Haven't come across anything specifically for the DashDAQ yet.

Thanks

Valetcruiser,,,,I copied your Dasdaq mounting system, except I used a metal strip off of the upper set of mounting holes It was the simplest cleanest and cheapest way I've seen and painting it black with trim paint(semi-flat black) made it blend into the upper dash section,,,the windshield suction mount did just that,,,it sucked.

The Edge part# for the dash mount in the picture is 18303 and it works pretty damned well, just snaps into place under the pillar post trim..And the DashDaq has to mount on the outside of the mount so that the OBD II plug will clear the dash..

I have a question regarding those short trips to the hardware store. If the tune is loaded, do you have to have the dashdaque in and on to make a quick trip to the store or whatever? Or can you leave it at home? I just saw the post of the poor guy that got his stolen out of his cab.
